The Isle of Man’s unique parliamentary democracy will be celebrated at the formal open-air proceedings of Tynwald Court on Tynwald Hill on Monday 7^th July 2025.

Following hundreds of years of tradition, a service will be held at St John’s in the Royal Chapel before the promulgation of Manx laws on Tynwald Hill. The public reading of the Acts, in both English and Manx Gaelic, underpins Tynwald’s Norse origins, where legislation passed during the previous parliamentary year is read aloud for all to hear.

Tynwald Day is a unique expression of the Island’s heritage, culture and traditions. An important part of this is the opportunity for any member of the public to present a petition. The “Petition for Redress”, sometimes known as the “Tynwald Hill petition”, is one of two ways a public petition can be made to Tynwald.  Persons wishing to present Petitions for Redress at the Tynwald Ceremony on 7^th July are reminded that Petitions must comply with the Standing Orders of Tynwald. Petitioners are strongly encouraged to seek advice from the Clerk of Tynwald in advance of submitting their Petition.

Tynwald Day also provides a vibrant celebration of our community, with activities happening in and around St. John’s before and after the formal Ceremony, showcasing our culture, creativity and local enterprise. The entertainment on Tynwald Day is always a focal point for families and friends.

Activities are scheduled throughout the day with the stalls on the back Fairfield opening from 9am; the Family Craft Tent, the Viking Village in Cooil-y-Ree and the Global Village in the Arboretum, all welcome visitors from 10am. Activities will be happening in the Bunscoill from 10am until 4pm and the Garey yn Ellan Ain Community Garden will be running a Family Nature Quest from 10am.

After the Ceremony has finished there is music in the Chapel and on the front Fairfield, and in the Tynwald Fest marquee from 1pm until the evening ends at 10pm with Ellan Vannin Pipes & Drums playing on the Hill to round off Tynwald Day in style.

Grandstand Tickets

Grandstand tickets are on sale now and can be purchased directly from reception in Legislative Buildings, Finch Road, Douglas. If you are unable to collect, please reserve and pay for Grandstand tickets by telephoning 685500 and collect your tickets on Tynwald Day. Tickets can also be bought from the Information Hut on Tynwald Day morning before the Ceremony starts.

Family tickets can be purchased for £15 or individual tickets are £5 each. All tickets include a Tynwald Day programme.

Parking

Free public parking is available at St John’s off Station Road but be aware that there are road closures that will restrict immediate access to the car parks. Please obey all traffic restrictions and follow directions given by the Scouts who assist with traffic management on the day. Do not park on private land without permission.

Blue Badge Parking

Follow the signs for Blue Badge car parking. Blue Badge holders may reserve a parking pass entitling them to a reserved space at the Old Farmers Arms car park (also known as the Old Railway Line car park). Please be advised that both the Blue Badge and the orange reserved parking passes should be displayed in car windows to assist those directing traffic.
