A consultation is being undertaken to seek views on the process to be adopted for the selection of a candidate to undertake the role of Tynwald Auditor General. This is a requirement in Schedule 1 (3) of the Tynwald Auditor General Act 2011  which came into force on 16 December 2020: It says:

Schedule 1

(3) Before the first appointment of an Auditor under this Act, and at any time when the office is vacant the Selection Committee must consult such persons and bodies as appear to the Selection Committee to be appropriate, whether in the Island or elsewhere, including bodies representing the audit and accountancy professions in the Island about the process to be adopted for selecting a candidate.

The Selection Committee, comprising the following members, now wish to consult.

•Hon Juan Watterson SHK, Chair of the Tynwald Management Committee

•Lawrie Hooper MHK, Vice Chair of the Public Accounts Committee

•Hon Howard Quayle MHK, Chief Minister

The consultation will run from Tuesday 2nd February 2021 to 5pm on Monday 2nd March 2021 and may be accessed here.
