Public Accounts Committee to Hear Evidence from Manx Care and Department of Health and Social Care regarding health service cuts.
04/02/2025The Public Accounts Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, will be taking oral evidence regarding the recently announced cuts to health services on Wednesday 5th February 2025 at 10:00am. Evidence will be heard from:
- 10:00am, Manx Care - Teresa Cope, Chief Officer; Wendy Reid, Chair; and Jackie Lawless, Finance Director.
- 11:15am, Department of Health and Social Care – Hon. Claire Christian MHK, Minister for Health and Social Care; Paul Richardson, Chief Officer.

Given significant public concern surrounding the actions of Manx Care and the Department of Health and Social Care over the past weeks regarding cancellation of treatments, the Committee feels it is important for Tynwald to respond urgently to publicly understand the facts and how this decision had been reached.
The evidence will be heard in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearing. The proceedings can also be heard on the ‘live and listen again’ audio webcast service on the Tynwald website and a livestream can be viewed on the Tynwald.live website.
The members of the Public Accounts Committee appointed by Tynwald are the Hon. Juan Watterson SHK, Mr Lawrie Hooper MHK, Mrs Ann Corlett MHK, Mr Rob Mercer MLC, and Mr Jason Moorhouse MHK. Mrs August-Phillips MLC has recused herself from this hearing due to her membership of the Department of Health and Social Care.
