Tynwald. The post holder may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends
by arrangement.

About this role
We are looking for a Parliamentary Intern to join the Corporate and Engagement Services Division in the Office of the Clerk of Tynwald. The Corporate team focuses on administrative, governance and organisational type services to Tynwald Members and the Office of the Clerk of Tynwald. The Engagement team delivers internal and external activities with a focus on delivering outreach events as part of an annual events programme; supporting inter-parliamentary activities.
This role requires both a customer and administrative skillset giving you the opportunity to develop in a variety of areas with a focus on corporate and governance within a small organisation.
This one-year intern post is an initiative developed to provide an opportunity for training and to gain experience of the full range of activities and services undertaken in a modern parliament. The post-holder will work primarily within the Corporate and Engagement Services team, but will have the opportunity to spend time within the other Tynwald Office teams and to work with the Clerks.

The work of this small office is varied and the post holder will be expected to contribute to other tasks, cover for other team members and, on occasion, to assist with work in other areas of the Clerk of Tynwald’s Office.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Corporate
a. Administrative support for the Presiding Officers (the President of Tynwald and the Speaker of the House of Keys), Members of Tynwald, and the Clerks. Support to include diary management, document and letter production, document management, meeting set up (technological and hospitality).
b. Maintaining information and records in accordance with data protection and office policies and procedures.
Engagement
c. Acting as a contact point welcoming on-Island and off-island visitors to Legislative Buildings, finding information and answering queries.
d. Contributing to arranging and hosting the annual Tynwald Day ceremony and many of the surrounding activities.
e. Maintaining the welcome area including monitoring stock in the gift shop and maintaining supplies.
Working in a Team
f. Administrative and secretarial support within the Corporate and Engagement Team for its functions including external and inter-parliamentary activities of the Manx legislature, including events, visits and conferences.
g. Cover for colleagues in the Corporate and Engagement team including reception cover, administrative support and finance administration.
