Youth Justice: Committee to hear evidence

The Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice Committee, a Standing Committee of Tynwald, will be taking oral evidence on the topic of youth justice from the persons listed below at the times stated.

On Monday 20 June 2022 at 2.30pm: Chrissie Hunt, Director of Prosecutions and Kathryn Clough, President of the Isle of Man Law Society

On Monday 27 June 2022 at 2.30pm: Hon Lawrie Hooper MHK and Stuart Quayle, Minister and Interim CEO, Department of Health and Social Care; Teresa Cope, CEO, Manx Care; and Lesley Walker, Safeguarding Chair

The evidence will be heard in the Legislative Council Chamber, Legislative Buildings, Bucks Road, Douglas. Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearing. The proceedings can also be heard on the ‘live and listen again’ audio webcast service on the Tynwald website.

Oral evidence in this inquiry was previously heard on 7 March 2022 from the Chief Constable; on 4 April 2022 from St Christopher’s; and on 23 May 2022 from the Department of Home Affairs. Hansard transcriptions for the first two of these is available from the Committee’s website, and for the third will be published in due course.

The members of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice Committee appointed by Tynwald are Miss Tanya August-Hanson MLC (Chair) and Mr Stu Peters MHK. There is currently a vacancy on the Committee as a result of the recent appointment of Hon Chris Thomas MHK as a Minister.
