The Tynwald Christmas Carol Service will be held at St George’s Church, Upper Church Street, Douglas, at 1.10 pm on Thursday 17th December 2020.
The President of Tynwald, the Hon Stephen Rodan OBE MLC, would like to extend a very warm invitation to all members of the public and the local business community to join Members and officers of Tynwald at the event. The President would also like to express his sincere gratitude to the Ven Andrew Brown MA Archdeacon of Man and Mrs Jane Brown for their hospitality on this occasion.
The music will be provided by two choirs: the Government Staff Choir and the Tynwald Choir. A retiring collection will be made and the service is expected to finish at approximately 2 pm, after which those attending are most welcome to stay for a cup of tea and a mince pie.
Mr President said: ‘Christmas is traditionally a time of coming together to reflect and celebrate, but never more so than this year when all of us, in one way or another, have been tested by the most challenging of global health crises in our lifetime. I hope, therefore, that the Tynwald carol service might provide an hour’s welcome respite from the demands of daily life; an opportunity to salute our collective national resolve and unite us in prayer, music and song.’
