The President of Tynwald, the Hon Steve Rodan OBE MLC, has paid tribute to the Island’s front-line and key workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: ‘On behalf of Members of Tynwald I wish to thank the Island’s heroic front-line and key workers for their dedication, selflessness and professionalism during what is one of the greatest health challenges our nation has had to face.
‘The impact of COVID-19 is forcing us all to adapt to a very different way of life, a way of life made all the more manageable – especially for the most vulnerable in our community – thanks to the countless brave men and women working under extreme pressure in health care and other essential services to protect lives, support the isolated and keep our Island running. And all the while they and their families will be experiencing the same anxieties currently affecting us all.
‘These may be dark days for the Isle of Man but we can take comfort from the many examples of generosity of spirit and acts of kindness witnessed during this time of shared crisis. A national emergency demands a collective national response. At the very heart of that response are our magnificent health workers and essential workers to whom Tynwald is pleased to pay tribute.’
