The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is hosting the 8th Commonwealth Youth Parliament 6th – 10th; November 2016 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The CPA Isle of Man Branch has applied for a place and, provided our application is successful, will fund one young person to attend this event.
The Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP) is an annual event that is held in a different Commonwealth region each year and this year will be held at the provincial Parliament Buildings, in downtown Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Up to 66 young people from across the Commonwealth will experience various aspects of parliamentary democracy and will have a unique opportunity to connect with youth from around the world. Youth parliamentarians will participate in education sessions led by experienced parliamentary officials, take part in parliamentary proceedings including Question Period, and debate and vote on legislation and motions.
If you are aged 18-29, confident and articulate with an interest in the Commonwealth and political affairs, and would be interested in being considered, please confirm your application by sending an e-mail before 5pm on Friday 1st July 2016 setting out in no more than 150 words: (a) how you would benefit from the experience; and (b) how the Isle of Man would benefit from your attendance at the event.
